The National Space Society announced at this past ISDC the Space
Ambassador Program. The purpose of the Space Ambassadors is to
communicate the value of space research and exploration to their local
communities. Furthermore, one special Space Ambassador will be selected
to fly on a Virgin Galactic suborbital flight.

Other SEDS-specific info:
-We will have a SEDS table
-Registration options
-SEDS members can register @ the Mars Society member rate (contact me
for the reg code)
-Reg fee is waived for those who volunteer at least 10 hours over the
course of the 4 day conference
-volunteering is similar to what we did @ ISDC (reg desk, room monitor,
runners, etc)
-I will compile a list of those interested

They've got a solid speaker list already and looks like it's coming
together quite well (I'm working in Denver this summer, so I at least
will be there to coordinate seds stuff)

Let me know if you or anyone in your chapter will be attending (or is
considering attending).

Subject: [Seds-announce] 2008 Air Venture Oshkosh

This year's Air Venture Oshkosh will have some space themes (for those
of you unfamiliar, it's a really big annual air show)
For the show in general:
When: Jul 28-Aug 3
Where: Oshkosh, WI
Registration: $20/day (students...I need to confirm this since it says
14-18) (if necessary, I can check on potential of SEDS discounts, but
this is pretty low as it is)

What:

specific space events of interest to you guys:
-Tuesday (Jul 29): Burt Rutan and Richard Branson will be doing some
sort of presentation
-the whole day is called "Learn About Space Tourism", so they will
likely have more space stuff
-that night, Hoot Gibson will give a NASA tribute and there will be a
bunch of NASA hardware in nearby hangars
-Friday/Saturday (Aug 1-2): Rocket Racing debut

If you are interested in attending, let me know. If enough people are
interested, we'll try coordinating some SEDS events there.
